Short-term Training for a Rewarding Career
As you are keenly aware, the economy is in a state of uncertainty. A lot of the axioms upon which we based career opportunities are now being challenged by the realities of our changing global economic system. A four-year college degree, while still very desirable, is not an automatic ticket to career success or to a high paying job.
As a matter of fact, some of the higher paying jobs may require apprenticeship training only. This is a time to develop a new mindset. Students need to be aware of all of their possibilities. Within EUREKA, you will find that we give an equal amount of visibility to both careers which require a four year college degree, as well as to those which require a certificate or apprenticeship training through two years of college.
Some of the most lucrative positions are in the skilled trades. Many workers in those fields are War Babies, or Baby Boomers, and are now retired or retiring. Often times there aren't any younger people to fill these positions. At the high school and community college level, it is very important for students to be aware of these options.
So, be sure to point out the Short-term Training Database to your students and clients!
We sincerely hope that you had a wonderful holiday, and we look forward to working with you this year!
